"Testing" my patience!

Hi blogsville, been thinking seriously of what to blog about lately. Well the answer came some minutes back...Have you ever been the newest member of a team only for your colleagues...scratch that even your subordinates to start treating you like "hey you're new here and we are old timers...you really don't know what you're doing so take a back seat”...
Well that is the treatment that was meted out to me o...hmmmn if only they know me well...
I am not one to put my head down on the slab just like that..I no be mumu...i.e I know my onions and I'm worth every bit of it!!!(Stole this phrase from my bruva-in-law!!!)
Anyhues got to this new office...new team mates etc...Not necessarily a new job o! And I got the "new comer" treatment as I call it...
The funniest part of it all is that the people that do this are the ones with little or no authority at all in the organisation!!!lol...I guess everybody loves to map out their territory...but hey I am not here to drag levels with anybody so WTF!!!
Anyways...I've been getting the vibe from this colleague of mine. she keeps sending me stupid emails...like she knows the answer to the questions but she's testing the depth of my ignorance, stupidity or knowledge...(I'm still laffing cos she doesn't know what she's got coming)...I just can't stand ITKs(I Too Knows: it means people that think they know it all...or people that have been in one company for ever and they think as a result of this, they have every right to be in your business even if they are surbodinates and you normally don't have direct dealings with them)...
Chei see my life o!
When I get to a new place, I like to ask questions no matter how stupid it sounds...I do this not only to get the gist of my role, but also to extend an olive branch to colleagues... to let them understand that I'm here to be a part of the team...I am not perfect...I don't know it all...and I am open to constructive criticism...it works for me so I won't stop...but it seems as if this colleague doesn't understand that I have iron hands wrapped in velvet gloves!!!(And it is pink at that…but come to think of it, I am not gentle) lol...
She tested me yesterday...and meen I was smiling inwardly by the time I shredded her to pieces (slowly, deliberately and deliciously at that!!!lol)... okay no hard feelings o...by the way for those of y'all that thought i went in to war of words with her nooo.. I just went in to war of brains...sometimes you just have to point some things out "subtly" to people to show them how stupid...their question is...

The space between this next paragraph is a pause...this babe is almost getting on my last nerves...gosh she just left my desk after asking me another obvious question...that she knows the answer to...I don't know what she's getting @ but trust me...I'm up to the task...by God's grace of 'cos...
Jesus TAKE THIS WHEEL!!!(Eyes rolling backwards!!!:-)) but I can't believe something like this is bringing out my creative juice sha...hee hee hee...

i can say we are civil to each other now and am asking thinking of sharing the gospel with her...lol...

I know that idea of people trying to put you in some kind of box or something... I think the "Aha!" moment comes when you proved them wrong. Infact, it begins by just simply seeing them as narrow minded... take it easy hun, every thing should be settled pretty quickly

So what have you too done to this babe that she's getting on your nerves?

@ aloted...Thank God for people like you in blogville...when you said you were thinking of sharing the gospel with her...i just thot to my self...there's no point in going into full blown war with this gal...if not for anything for the sake of the gospel...and you're right there's a reason for my existence in that place...it is not about me...I guess I've let Jesus take the wheels then...abeg leave that thing o...the comment is not long jare...I like...meanwhile did my mail go to junk again?lol

@talesandtallies; thanks for that...well i hope she has seen the "Aha" moment otherwise I may just have to give her goggles to wear!!!

@naijalines; i promise you...nothing o...was just going about my business jejely...as the lord sent me...seriously if you haven't encountered ITKs (check the blog for the meaning) before, then just pray you won't ever...they can be soooo annoying...

Yes they can be realllly annoying. They always think they know it all
i think everyone has 2 go 2ru thing with every change of work. don't also assume it's easier on d ones already n d compnay b4 u came. sometimes, wot happens is dat there r 'cultures' in every organisation - 'the way we do things'. these r ways dat d new comer is not aware of, or maybe not at all used to. so, dis new comer comes wit his/her idea of doing thing which clash with d compnay & there's friction. personally, i went 2ru it d first 3 months of my present company & it made working hell. everything i did was perceived as d 'wrong way of doing it'. den, one of dem called me out & told me dat 2 cool down & learn d company's ways, den see how i can blend mine wit its. i believe dat was d best advise i've ever been given.

I know where you are coming from but then let the focus be on where you are going...like aloted said, you are there for a purpose.

I have a colleague here too who keeps throwing her double masters and intended PhD at me but I know she's really envious of my youth and creativity...and what I am achieving...that girl wants what you have got and can't believe you are not being snotty about urself...keep on shining!

...what better response than SILENCE?

I think it's laudable that aloted would like to share the word.
I had similar and worse in my last job and I learnt to play the same game. Nothing snaps someone out of their 'nonsense' than being a victim of it.
